Distrust of Owning

Harvesting sustenance and intrigue without:

Stifling, closet stuffed regrets and dust

Going from sports car, to oxidized rust

I don't want this forever

Yet I want all the same

How many moves before I settle or claim

My distrust of owning

My flickering sight of

What could be past the next corner of sight.

A Purpose to Strife

How far out can one go
In human's small range?
How much will a vice crimp
A desire to taste?
Not even a habit, an addiction or fate
Can prevent a deep passion or choice to create
The far, the exotic, the ancient, the bold
All draw the wandering
Soul to unfold
Perhaps not to greatness, health or long life
But who is to say if there's a purpose to strife?

crimp - have a limiting or adverse effect

vice - an immoral or unhealthy habit

strife - incompatibility between people

Sarcasm

Many of you attain a level where you realize sarcasm is no longer an option.  At this point, sarcasm is like a gun; if you use it on someone you kill something or at the very least, hide behind it to vent rage and/or resentment. What you kill with sarcasm could have been the door to productive decisiveness, trust and/or authenticity. Sarcasm prevents authentic responses.  It is a covert form of hostility deemed harmless because of its pervasiveness and use as a catalyst for humor.

The Dark We Keep

For that shadow inside us feeds
Primarily on climbing and greed
Sprouting forth from patience and seed
The higher from an egg that bleeds
Its fruit through heavy labor
Seeks more another's favor
To sabotage the self love deep
Which illuminates
The dark we keep.
